Preparing Your Soul for the Big Leap
By Skip Jennings
Each of us is being called to rise—to step beyond fear, resistance, and limitation into the life that Spirit has uniquely designed for us. This isn’t simply about reaching for success or achieving external goals; it’s about stepping into our soul’s brilliance. In his powerful book The Big Leap, Gay Hendricks invites us into what he calls the Zone of Genius—the sacred space where we live from our highest self, express our deepest gifts, and serve the world with divine purpose.
Spiritual Questions That Lead to Transformation
1. Am I willing to increase the amount of time I feel good inside?
This question is not about surface-level happiness or fleeting pleasure. It’s about cultivating a deep, sustaining sense of inner peace and well-being that is not dependent on outside conditions. Feeling good becomes a spiritual practice—one that begins with morning stillness, gratitude, and an awareness of our divine identity. When we prioritize our inner state, we begin to radiate healing and possibility into everything we touch.
2. Am I willing to increase the amount of time that my whole life goes well?
That question challenges our old conditioning, especially the belief that life must be a constant struggle. But when we live in alignment with spiritual principles—love, integrity, faith, and divine order—life begins to unfold with grace. We move from forcing things to flow, from surviving to thriving. We start to trust that the Universe is always working on our behalf, even when the path seems unclear.
3. Am I willing to feel good and have my life go well all the time?
For many, this idea feels foreign, maybe even unrealistic. We’ve been taught to expect the other shoe to drop, to believe that joy must be counterbalanced by pain. But what if that belief is part of what’s holding us back? What if we were never meant to live in cycles of fear and suffering? What if joy, peace, and divine success are meant to be our new spiritual baseline?
My Big Leap Journey
I’ve wrestled with these questions myself. In 2020, I took my own Big Leap. I left Los Angeles and moved across the country to Fort Lauderdale, Florida. I didn’t know what lay ahead, only that Spirit was calling me into deeper service. I stepped into a new role as the senior minister of a spiritual community, met challenges I didn’t expect, and discovered layers of strength I didn’t know I had. There were moments of doubt, loneliness, and deep inner work. But there was also growth, healing, and an undeniable spiritual unfolding. That leap taught me who I truly am—not just as a minister, but as a soul on assignment.
And now, three years later, I’ve taken another leap—I’ve returned to Los Angeles. But I didn’t come back the same. I returned as a more grounded teacher, a more compassionate leader, and a more awakened version of myself. What I once thought was a departure turned out to be an initiation. The journey was not a detour; it was part of my divine curriculum. The return? That was my resurrection. I now see clearly that the Big Leap isn’t just about relocating physically; it’s about relocating spiritually—into our truth, our power, and our purpose.
Recognizing and Releasing Our Upper Limits
As we prepare to take our own leaps, we must be willing to confront the unconscious beliefs that hold us back. These are our upper limits—the invisible ceilings we place on how much joy, love, or success we think we can handle. They show up in many ways: in worrying about things we can’t control, in blaming others, in getting sick at critical moments, or in starting arguments when things are going well. Sometimes we deflect praise or hide how we really feel. Sometimes we keep our truth from the people who most need to hear it. These aren’t flaws—they’re signs we’re on the edge of transformation.
To transcend those limits, we must begin to normalize joy and ease. We have to let go of the belief that struggle is necessary for growth and instead embrace the possibility that peace, success, and love can be our everyday experience. That’s not wishful thinking—it’s a spiritual truth. And to sustain that reality, we create rituals of well-being. We build our days around what elevates us: prayer, meditation, mindful eating, time in nature, creative expression, and sacred study. They are not luxuries; they are lifelines.
Courage, Consistency, and the LEAP Blueprint
When fear arises—and it will—we replace it with curiosity. We ask, “What am I afraid will happen if things stay good?” And we meet that fear with compassion, not judgment. We become willing to grow from a place of joy, not only from pain. Most importantly, we commit to spiritual consistency. This path requires showing up day after day, even when the leap feels impossible. But with each small act of devotion, we make feeling good and flowing well our new normal.
TAKE THE LEAP!
To close this journey, I want to offer a spiritual blueprint—a divine acronym for LEAP:
L stands for Listen to the Call. Your intuition is your compass, and it’s already guiding you.
E is Embody Your Truth. Knowing is not enough—live it. Walk in your greatness unapologetically.
A is Align with Spirit. You are never alone. The Universe is conspiring for your expansion.
P is Practice Faith in Action. Faith without movement keeps us stuck. Leap—even if your knees shake.
Say Yes to Your Soul
So here you are, standing at the threshold of transformation. Your soul knows what the next leap is. Are you ready to say yes? Reflect on this: Where are you resisting expansion? What would it feel like to live in your Zone of Genius, fully and freely? What is one bold action you can take today to answer your calling?
Let this moment be your dawn of destiny. Say yes to the leap. Say yes to your soul. Say yes to the life you were born to live.
